PROS Consulting assisted in the development of Garden City’s 2025 Parks and Recreation Master Plan, creating a community-driven and data-supported roadmap for the City’s parks, trails, facilities, programs, operations, and future investments. The plan addressed the management of 639 acres of park facilities, the 3.5 mile long Talley Trail, and the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course Site.
This Master Plan reflects a robust series of meetings, charrettes, and a statistically valid survey that were conducted with City leaders, the Garden City Parks Master Plan Steering Committee and Garden City residents. As a result of these meetings, residents and City leaders established priorities for park improvements, additional park facilities, and improving existing off and on-street sidewalks in order to strengthen the connections between park facilities. The Master Plan also covers Garden City’s continued goals of establishing a high-performing Parks and Recreation Department, operation improvement, and quality service delivery system-wide.
The adopted Master Plan provided prioritized funding recommendations for parks and facility upgrades, opportunities to increase funding, and best practices to optimally harness a business-like mindset that will help the Department to become more financially resilient.
