The Fort Worth Parks & Recreation Department manages and operates a range of Park & Recreation facilities and offers recreational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Additionally, a significant aspect of the Park & Recreation Department’s offerings is providing athletic fields for youth and adult sports programs.
With a growing population resulting in increased participation and demand for athletic field sports programs (for youth and adults alike), the Fort Worth Parks & Recreation Department desired to determine how to improve its existing athletic field system and if need exists for more athletic fields. As a result, within this project process, PROS worked to not only identify current needs, but also projected need and the demands that the system will face in the coming years. Therefore, the outcomes of this Athletic Field Study, developed by PROS Consulting, were to:
- Provide a review of the existing facilities and uses, including analyzing current uses by all users of existing system facilities
- Gather information from City staff and the public through public workshops, focus groups, and stakeholder meetings
- Determine the need for any operational improvements in the delivery of athletic field services
- Determine projected increases or decreases of programmatic needs related to athletic fields
- Establish a prioritized project list that identifies needs, improvements, and enhancements to existing facilities and the development of new athletic fields within the system
