Cate Rozier
Project Intern

Cate Rozier is a senior at Indiana University (IU) studying public financial management
and parks and recreation. Since the age of six, Cate has had the opportunity to view the
field of parks and rec from many perspectives, including as a youth sports and summer
camp participant, staff member, and academic. For four years, Cate worked as a
summer camp counselor for the City of Tallahassee’s PlayCamp. She also spent a
summer working at a non-profit camp in Smoky Mountains National Park. In these
positions, she gained insight into, and respect for the immense amount of work that
goes into program development and facilitation.

At school, Cate is writing an undergraduate thesis that explores whether park access is
a predictor of obesity rates and what implications this relationship may have for
financing public health initiatives. Furthermore, through her studies at IU, Cate has
developed a disciplined, analytical approach to understanding how public resources are

allocated, managed, and evaluated. These experiences have strengthened her ability to
assess financial and resource management decisions not only for efficiency, but for their
broader impact on communities. Cate is a very inquisitive person and highly values
community, so naturally her favorite aspect of her role at PROs is using data to discover
and tell the story of a community. She loves taking a deep dive into communities across
the country and learning the intricacies of their operations. Cate is excited to learn and
work alongside the PROS Consulting team. She is grateful for the opportunity to
approach the parks and recreation field from another perspective, while supporting the
individuals around the country who are creating meaningful community impact every
day.

In her free time, Cate can frequently be found listening to music, rock climbing,
canoeing, hanging out with friends or going for a run. She finds joy in sharing her
enthusiasm for nature with others and is often leading IU backpacking and mountain
biking classes or coaxing her skeptical friends to go on long hikes, insisting “Don’t worry,
it will be fun”!
