PROS Consulting Ownership Transition

After 30 years of elevating the services and impacts of our consulting firm in our beloved industry, PROS Consulting owners Leon and Katherine Younger have handed over the reins of ownership to four senior members of the firm. The firm is now led under the ownership team of Brian Trusty, Michael Svetz, William Younger, and Sarah Durham as Senior Partners. Leon remains on board and is involved daily with external relations, speaking engagements, project work and providing guidance for the new ownership team. Here are some personal messages about this transition.

A word from Leon Younger…

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Partners,

When I founded PROS in 1995, my intention was to create a firm grounded in the field of parks and recreation practitioners serving practitioners steered by practical experiences, trust, and lasting connections. It has been both an honor and a privilege to collaborate with over 1,500 park and recreation systems and the distinguished professionals who lead them.

Throughout the past three decades, I have remained committed to assembling a team that exemplifies these core values. I am fortunate to have collaborated with dedicated professionals whose mission is to help parks and recreation systems achieve their fullest potential. Currently, our staff offers more than 150 years of collective experience as practitioners and consultants, all deeply committed to serving our clients, communities, and colleagues.

Having reached a pivotal stage in my career, I am transitioning the ownership of the firm while maintaining PROS as a resilient, forward-looking organization poised for continued success. I will remain fully engaged as Founder and Senior Principal, continuing to support parks and recreation agencies and focusing on work that aligns with my passion and expertise.

Ownership of PROS Consulting has transitioned to an internal partnership team comprising of four senior team members: Mike Svetz, Brian Trusty, Will Younger, and Sarah Durham. This transition ensures that PROS remains independent, employee-led, and firmly rooted in the values, culture, and service philosophy that have defined our organization since its establishment.

I am profoundly grateful for the trust placed in us and for the many enduring partnerships and friendships formed over the past 30 years. I look forward to PROS’ continued growth and am confident that this leadership team will uphold our tradition of earning your trust while advancing the parks and recreation systems we are all committed to supporting.

While my husband will remain with PROS as Senior Principal, I will be leaving the organization. I want to express my gratitude to the wonderful staff I have had the pleasure of working with throughout the years. It has been a joy collaborating with you all and forming lasting friendships. I have also enjoyed building meaningful connections with many exceptional Parks and Recreation Directors and their teams. You are remarkable professionals, and I wish you continued success in your future endeavors.

To my husband, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me join you on your professional journey. Your unwavering dedication to your clients shines through in the way you truly listen, understand their needs, and work side by side with them to help them reach their goals and fulfil their potential. While ownership is transitioning, Leon will continue to serve the profession he helped shape as a Senior Principal for PROS. Leon will remain actively involved working with clients, fostering relationships, developing strategic initiatives, and mentoring our leadership team. His experience, passion, and vision will continue to be an important part of PROS for years to come.

As we continue to celebrate our 30th anniversary, we are energized by the opportunities ahead. The parks and recreation profession continues to evolve as communities navigate changing needs, emerging technologies, funding pressures, and rising expectations.
